Grand Lido - Prime Minister's Suite

07/31/2007   The staff were very courteous and service was timely. We figured out on our first day that the jacuzzi was not filling up correctly and within 30 minutes their service people were on hand to fix it. Within 30 minutes of their arrival it was fixed! Every morning they have staff making sure the shallow areas of the water were free of sea cucumbers and other creatures. The beach itself was quite clean and they would comb it every morning to ensure that it stayed clean. They have a 5-diamond restaurant on site and it was worth it! The food was wonderful. Make sure you make a reservation when you get to the resort and guys - don't forget to bring a dinner jacket they are required! Be careful going to the other restaurants because some of the descriptions fell short of what came out of the kitchen. After 10pm at night, room service is limited to a set menu and though it's not bad compared to what I've experienced at other hotels it's nothing to write home about. Lamb seems to be a specialty for the area and we recommend any dish with lamb in it. The version of all inclusive offered by the Grand Lido is what comes to mind when planning a trip. You expect to pay a certain amount and they don't expect more for certain activities (from what I remember of my research, scuba diving isn't free anywher). My favorite thing about this resort was that tipping is NOT allowed. The management staff strongly emphasized this when we checked in.

Grand Lido Negril

08/24/2006   The staff at Grand Lido were extremely friendly and accomodating. We discovered a really great French Vanilla Cappacino and we wanted to take cups back to our room from on of the restaurants. They didn't mind at all and made sure to send someone to our room to collect the cup/saucers to return to the restaurant. We were also able to get ice cream to take back to our room, even though it was not offered on the menu for room service. The food was really good and it was not difficult for us to make reservations at the two restaurants that required them. We were unable to eat at the Jamaican restaurant because the two times we walked down to it, it was closed. Some of the activities that were listed in the brochure we received the first day did not take place at the times they were scheduled. This is a very quiet and peaceful resort; not for couples who are looking for exciting night life. It was exactly what we were looking for on our honeymoon. I expected the rooms to be a little more luxurious than they were. They were clean and everything, but I guess I expected luxurious bedding and a fancy bathroom. The bathroom had a really nice shower with eight different shower heads, but no bathtub. It seemed pretty ordinary as far as hotel rooms go.
