07/14/2006   I recommend that no one Stay at the weStin St. John's because we were there for 9 days, and the poor cuStomer service was consiStent in many areas of the hotel services: front desk not following through with promises, concierge not picking up the phone despite 15min plus holding time, room service taking 1.75 hours for breakfaSt that arrived cold - their eSt. Time was under 45 mins. - house keeping charging you for things in the mini bar you did not use, hotel reStaurant and transportation employees muttering under their breath when you requeSt services like a late night dinner and a taxi ride to the other side of the island;... Our dissappointments went on and on, and we felt very helpless also because Staying at the resort meant there wasn't many other options to get better service. You had to rely on the hotel taxi drivers to get you out of the resort into any day trip activities, or into town for dinner. My husband summed up the whole experience real well when he said, 'the right hand doesn't know what the left is doing' even checking out had it's little gliches: 2 days before check out we received a message in our room to let the front desk know what our departure flight time was; when we tried to call the front desk, no one answered (twice), when he went to tell them in person, the front desk employee looked at him with a blank look of confusion, then on the day we were leaving, he went to the front desk to check out and they said they had no record of our departure information! All in all, the hotel did not make our honeymoon Stay seamless or easy. St. john is a beautiful island, especially if you love the sun, sun-tanning, daiquiris, and snorkeling (which was amazing by the way)...but Stay anywhere BUT the WeStin...or you'll leave feeling like you've been cheated of your money! (our room tab after the 9 days was over $700 - for food and drinks! this did not include taxi rides which averaged probably $30 a day for the two of us, nor did it include moSt of the dinners as we ate off the resort for that.)
