Honeymoon Reviews

07/12/2006   The Hilton Hawaiian Village is a great resort for being near all of the action, so I wouldn't call it romantic. If you want romance try the Big Island or Maui. We stayed on HHonours Points, so we had a very affordable stay, with breakfast being included. If it wasn't for points, we wouldn't have stayed. I would think for young honeymooners like us it would have been too expensive. The upgrade to the breakfast buffet was only $8 for us, but the normal price was $23. So you can imagine what lunch and dinner prices were like. We always ate off premises. It was a good experience, but if you're looking for alone time to be romantic this whole island isn't for you.The pool and hot tubs were always crowded and so were any of the excursion destinations - that's just how Waikiki Beach is. Action packed - so if you're up for lots of sightseeing like us, the Hilton has a shuttle right in the Tapa Tower you can catch to take you almost anywhere for only $2. Oh yeah, don't buy any excursions through the resorts - pick up the coupon books which are on every street corner and save yourself money! We highly recommend the Rainbow tower as it has the best view, close to beach and away from the busy street with shuttles. On our second week in Hawaii we took an NCL Cruise around the island as we found it more affordable than flying to each island and finding accommodations and meals. Well NCL is a 3 star and that's what you get - 3 star food, 3 star shows and a really crowded boat of all Americans - staff and passengers, which we found most disappointing as we love to meet people from all over the world on cruises. However if you treat it like a 'mode of transportation' and not a 'Cruise' you'll be fine and get to where you're going. Perhaps I'll do another review about that separately... Happy honeymooning!
