We had a great time at Sandals Negril. Everyone was exceptionally sweet & helpful, we loved it!
08/28/2006
We stayed at sandals negril from feb.5-19/06. We were married feb.9/06 the vacation and weddingmoon was phenomenal !!! Could not ask for better..4 of us went for the one week and the 2 of us stayed for the 2nd week as our honeymoon. We arrived late at nite and customs went quick, then hurried to sandals lounge for a red strip. Then off to the resort.1 1/2 ride was not too bad. I heard alot of terrible stories about the driving but this driver was excellent.there was some confusion when we arrived , we did not get the paradise block like we asked for but ended up loving the sundowner block better anyways(not as much people walking past at night by the sundowner block)our friends also requested paradise block, they got it but it was facing the highway and terrible, they waited til the am and saw Howard Spittle, the manager and he chaged their room, no problem. The first day it rained and it was bob marley's birthday so bob's music was everywhere, the only place to go (heheheeheh) was to the pool bar for the day(not a good idea)missed supper, lost my sunglasses, retainer and smokes.went to bed around 6 p.m.got up hung over (around 8 p.m)looking for supper, the food was phenomenal, the entertainment was great too.we went on a few excursions, mayfield falls(very romantic, we went on the river raft the day after our wedding,,,it was awesome !!) river walk, river raft, rick's cafe, margaritaville, and shopping .the the excursions were worth every penny.loved them all the river raft was so romantic, nice to do the day after a wedding. The wedding went beautifully(lilly and mishele at the wedding center are wonderful)maria was our photographer, she is sooooo nice (love her)vinton and richard, adrien and rohan form the photoshop are excellent as well.will miss them all.the best bartender was 'Owen'. He is a single father of 2 and is totally awesome. We have talked to him twice since we have been home.he looked after us so well. My other fav bartenders were bissette, lloyd, paul, kimloy(miss you girl)we had the bartenders over one night to our room to try our canadian rum..heheheh...what a blast.they are all so awesome.Owen our bartender made us friendship bracelets.anyways on to the rest of the trip.i could go on and on about the bartenders but i won't..hehehhe....we ate at all the restaurants, they were all phenomenal,i especially loved the omlettes in the a.m.. The buffets' are huge and sooooo good. The rooms are small but nice and we had the conceirge service which is so worth it.the pools are all in great shape and we used them all. The beach is nice and Delly rakes the beach all day. Make sure you say hi to delly, he is so nice. The wedding was beautiful and the weather was really hot and humid.the make you feel so special.Kimbeley from the dinning room served us for the reception(she is awesome)the wedding pictures are beautiful(hard to pick only 36 out of 330.the flowers were beautiful too.the dvd ,we did have a few problems but after 4 tries montego bay got it right finally.i have no regrets about sandals negril.the only one regret is that we are still not there. Oh before i forget, Gauvin and ricardo from the playmakers are so much fun.miss them too...we participated in alot of the activities aroung the resort and got necklaces for doing it.we also won a bottle of rum in a contest. I could just go on and on...LOVED IT !!!!! If you have any specific questions to ask PLEASE feel free to email me dirctly. Clj1965@accesscable.net irie p.s can't wait to go back....

My husband and I, aged 35 and 40. Ride from airport in Montego Bay to Negril-Humbling is the best word I can think of! I didn't know they drove on the other side of the road so that was somewhat of a SHOCK! Takes about an hour and a half in a small van or you can hire taxi. There is enough to see on the way that the ride goes by very fast. Do expect to tip the driver. Check in-below average. We arrived at the resort at approx. 12:30 pm and were told by the nice conceirge staff to have a bite to eat and check back in with them. 3 hours later we were in our room. Was I irritated, yes, even though I expected the delay after reading reviews, but after a long trip(we had left our hometown at 2am), we just wanted to rest. We did have suits in our carry-on bag but you just want to rest and freshen up a bit when you arrive, plus you aren't really sure where anything is. Food-Excellant. We tried all the different restaurants and loved them all. Portions served are smaller than you might be expecting and served in courses, but you never leave hungry and there is always a good selection. Ask for 3 or more of an appetizer or entree. Loved Kimonos and couldn't get through a day without Fitzroy singing to us while preparing our meal at the Beachfront Grill. The American food at the grill was great, they made the best grilled cheese and fajitas! Beach-Cleanest I have seen. No shortage of beach chairs for our stay and if you are worried you won't get one, get up early and throw a shirt or something on them and they are yours. The staff puts folded towels on all the chairs each morning. Water not that deep but deep enough to float in on a pool floaty(get one of those from pool area and keep it with you on your deck if you have one). Many starfish and other ocean life. Staff-Miss them already! Got many addresses and phone numbers to keep in contact. I didn't think any of them were rude, as a matter of fact they were always there to help you if needed, singing, smiling and in great moods and we were never asked for a tip. Never had anything taken out of our room and we generally left a lot out. The only staff that got on our nerves were the photographers. They get annoying asking you to have photos taken constantly but just say no and they eventually leave you alone. We did end up purchasing a few shots and they turned out great. Watersports- snorkeling, hubby scuba dived and liked it but blew out his ear drum so only went once. Hobie Cats, Water tricyles(?), glass bottom boat..had a great time, no problems. Rooms- We had a honeymoon grand luxe beachfront concierge suite, first floor, paradise building, room 5120, and it was marginal. Much smaller than I expected. Bathroom VERY small and no fan so first few mornings we had the ceiling dripping water all over the place. Air is window units and no problems with it other than our last day when we returned to our room and thought it was awfully hot!! Air wasn't in but they 'repaired' it and had it back within two hours. You don't spend a lot of time in your room anyway! Our mini-fridge was stocked daily with whatever you ask for, from water to hard liquor. Pools-Didn't get in a pool one time, why when there is the ocean!! Pools were small but never saw anyone 'swimming' in them anyway. Mostly used for pool parties or exercise class. Acitivities/Music- Disappointed that most of the songs we heard were American, not reggae which is what most people expect. Live entertainment was good and there are many activities planned each day, be sure to grab a schedule at the playmakers office each morning. The 'board' they show you never had anything written on it for the entire ten days we were there. Bars-Loved all the bartenders, always putting on a show and getting everyone around involved. Drinks are not made strong unless you ask for it. Ask for a double-it is all-inclusive. Tours/Excursions-They offer plenty, we only took the shopping trip to the craft market and to Rick's Cafe. Most of the excursions are expensive, check the website before you go, prices are on there. Off Resort-Hedonism on one side, walked over once to find shells, nasty rocky, dirty beach but great to find small shells on! Beaches and Couples on other side. Didn't visit but did walk that way off resort to see a few shops. T-shirts etc much cheaper there instead of resort gift shot. You can also get hair braided, massages etc. As soon as you do walk that way you will be hit up to buy drugs--a firm no is all you need. You can visit Couples and try their restaraunts also. Highly recommend this resort. We will be back year after year.

We had the best time on our Sandals Honeymoon. I must say it was probably the best vacation we have ever taken (and we've been to a few places). The hotel room was gorgeous. We stayed in the Honeymoon Beachfront Loft. It was perfect! The room was decorated beautifully, the bed was so comfortable. The view of the ocean was great! Waking up to the sound of the ocean...what more could you want?! The restaurants on the resort were great, the food wasn't bad (A lot of seafood, which I don't really care for), but it was different, and I'll always try something new. The amenities and activities were great - we went scuba diving! Loved it! I would recommend this location to everyone...like I said, it's the best vacation I've ever taken!
