Honeymoon Reviews

I don't know where to begin. We are a newly wed couple in our mid 20's. The information you are about to read comes from an avid vacationer who is in love and admiration for all things Caribbean. I love all things associated with the tropics and this place was the exact reason why. My now wife and I stayed at Couples Negril from Feb. 17 to Feb. 26. We were there for both our honeymoon, as well as, to get married. We had researched this hotel for almost two years solid. Going on website after website and reading review after review. We read a lot of stories and after going ourselves, those who were not happy must not have been at the same place we were. The bus ride was not that bad at all. It took an hour and 20 minutes which gave us a great chance to see the countryside and how the locals live. We were greeted with cold towels and even colder glasses of champagne. We got a free upgrade to an oceanveiw room which was nice. Couldn't really see the ocean, but I would rather walk down to it then see it from a balcony. Room was excellent. Clean, bright, and decorated with lots of really cool furniture. Small problem with water pressure, but I will say this... That is my only words of warning, not complaint. The grounds were beautiful. Everything was well kept, painted, trimmed, and simply breathtaking. Our wedding photos were so beautiful because of it. Food was excellent. We have absolutely no complaints about the food at all. Activities were going on all day long. We snorkeled everyday. We did all the water activities you could think of. We visited Margarita Ville and Rick's Cafe. Even cliff dived from Pirates Cave. Plenty to do or not to do. The drinks are to die for. Whatever you want whenever. Plenty of liquor, trust me. I recommend the strawberry colada!!!! People were friendly and never hesitated to help. Always smiling and asking what ya need mon. I tell ya, we were so pleased that we chose this hotel for our wedding. I thank the hotel for giving us a lifetime of memories that we will never forget. We simply cannot wait until we can go back. This place is so peaceful and so heavenly, that I am lost without it. So in conclusion, if you are looking for a place that gives you everything your heart could desire. A place that fulfills all of your fantasies. A place that I guarantee will go above and beyond your expectations. Couples Negril is that place. If ya truly want to see heaven, then look no farther. It awaits you at Couples Negril!!!!

Will try to keep this relatively short (yeah who am I kidding!). Flight------, AA left us at the gate on the plane for two hours with no a/c or beverage service. Would definitely recommend a non stop flight if it can be managed. Plus side-they were more than happy to hang up my dress in the closet and let us board first to accomplish this. Immigration/Customs at MoBay took about an hour to an hour and a half. Have all your forms filled out in advance, expedites the process. Couples lounge/Bus--wonderful, very polite and efficient and got us on our way ASAP. Crazy driving, even compared to Atlanta LOL but they know what they are doing. Took about 45-60 min to get to Couples, no stops for drinks or bathroom (none of us wanted to). The Resort--got the customary cool cloth/champagne arrival. Efficient check in-Herbert was great making sure our bags were brought to our room immediately. Received a complimentary upgrade to deluxe oceanview room, 5202, was very nice. Also received our letter from Rasheda letting us know when to meet with her for the wedding details. Room--very nice, did smell faint musty smell from time to time, but I think it was (maybe) from the mop housekeeping used on the floors. Only smelled it right after the room was cleaned, no big deal, no need for candles or plug ins or anything of that nature. Bed=comfy! Loved the balcony, especially having breakfast out there before the rest of the resort woke up for the day. Got lots of exercise going up and down the stairs to the rest of the resort LOL Left my gifts for housekeeping on the bed with a note and she would thank me each time I saw her. Had no problems with water pressure the entire time we stayed, and there were no cracked tiles either. Food-no complaints at all. There is something for everyone. Loved Andrea's omelettes. I preferred Heliconia over Otaheite, but that's just personal preference. Activities--Damian, Marcus, LaToya made it very enjoyable. MUST attend the rum mixology class,it was hilarious!! We played the newlywed game, battle of the sexes, bingo, music trivia, pool volleyball, attended a basket weaving class (although it was really a pot holder making class LOL) MUST try the scuba class if you have never done it. Karl was a wonderful teacher and we are definitely considering getting certified. DONT forget your underwater camera (like I did ) Didn't care for the in town shopping trip at all, much preferred the vendors who set up on the beach. DO haggle with them A LOT to settle on the price you want to pay, it is worth it! Drinks--try them all, especially the bartenders' specialties(Tennyson, Keisha, Stuton, Amardo, Ivelynn). I did see a bartender taking tips while I was there, but it was only that one person. Wedding--Rasheda is great as is Cameon. They both took care of everything and anything we needed. Relax brides, you are in capable hands!! Used Sungold Photo for the pics, again, personal preference, and they turned out fantastic! Paula and Damian are wonderful to work with! Did not like the way the spa did my hair, but I redid it when I got back to the room and it turned out ok in the end. My hair is hard to manage, but I did see plenty of brides with beautiful up-dos from the salon, so I think that is hit or miss. Nails were fine, no complaints there. Nobody from the nude beach made an appearance during the ceremony, no cat calls or anything like that. Did hear of that happening at a few other weddings though. Flowers were beautiful, definitely willing to work with you on what you want. Weather-was perfect, only rained while we were in the pool under water learning scuba. Water did get really stirred up and watersports were canceled for two and a half days, but cannot control Mother Nature, so we just went with the flow. All in all, it was a fantastic vacation, we will be back. The staff seems to genuinely care if you are having a good time and are so sweet! Our wedding and honeymoon were as wonderful as we hoped it would be and we would pick Couples all over again in a heartbeat! Other notes: bring a watch, it is a pain not to know what time it is when you want to participate in an activity. Pack COMFORTABLE shoes that are already broken in (I got blisters from the new ones, ouch) Did not need bug spray. I packed SPF 30-48 and the 30 worked just fine for me (I burn reallllllly easy)and typically applied three times a day. Packed the extension cord, didn't use it, no need to curl my hair anyway LOL. Do bring a beach bag so you are not lugging everything around all day. Also keep some money in it so when the vendors come around you don't have to keep running to your room.
