Honeymoon Reviews
08/16/2006
With all the bad pubilicity about Aruba these days, I wanted veryone to know what a great island Aruba is for a honeymoon or family vacation. The reason I am writing my review of Aruba is to make it known that Aruba is a safe, beautiful island that everyone should visit at least once in their lives. My husband and I visited Aruba the last week in May, 2005 for our honeymoon. Before I went I read all the reviews and was scared about a few things: the wind, the condition of my hotel, and the condition of the beaches. I must say once I arrived at the beautiful island all of my fears withered away. WE stayed at the Hyatt resort which I must say was absolutely gorgeous. The hotel staff was friendly and the rooms were in excellent condition. WE were upgarded to the conceirge suites because it was our honeymoon. The pool was clean and so much fun. The hotel pool had a waterslide and a swim up pool bar. We also gathered for bingo each day at 3pm. Now the beach was aslo quite lovely. The sand was white and so soft. The water was calm and warm. I spent most of my morning at the beach and my afternoon at the pool. As for these infamous beach huts that people claimed you had to wake up at 5am to reserve--that is a lie. WE got to the beach about 10am ecah day and had no problem getting a hut and a raft. WE also never had a problem getting a pool chair. As far as that wind goes, the wind was a blessing because the sun is quite strong. It was not so windy that the sand was flying everywhere, it was a cool calm breeze that was much needed. Without the wind I would have been in the water all day long cooling off! Also in regards to the rain, yes it rained each day but only for about 5 minutes. We usually sat in the pool as the storm passed by. It was quite refreshing. In regards to the island, we had so much fun touring the island. WE went horse back riding one day, and viewed the rocky side of the island seeing the natural bridge and natural pool. We paid extra to have a private horseback tour which was worth it and so romantic. We also got a chance to gallop on the sand dunes. We did a Kooko Kunku crazy bus tour of all the bars at night. We had a great time and our tour guide was a riot. We also rented a car and took our own tour of the rocky side of the island, seeing the lighthouse, ruins etc etc. We followed a little dirt road all around the island and it was a sight to be seen. At times we swore we were lost but we kept following that little road and eventually made it back home. It was a tour we will never forget. Overall we had a great trip. I did not have one complaint. The islanders were so friendly and did not beg for money or beg for you to buy their items. They were so polite and did all they could to make us feel welcomed and safe. Also it is important to note that the night we arrived was the same night that Natalie Holloway went missing. Despite this sad incident, we still felt very safe. Please do not let this incident deter your decision to visit this island. This island is safe. We plan on visiting Aruba again and I must say I have been to over 6 islands and this by far was the best island I have ever been to. The things I liked the best were the : beautiful white sandy beachs, friendly islanders, great beef( the steak was to die for), Hyatt resort, many tours to do. I hope you consider Aruba as your honeymoon destination.
